Charts and Line Graphs
In Year 4 children move on from simply reading data to working with it. They interpret and present discrete and continuous information, including time graphs that show how something changes through a day or week. They also use bar charts, pictograms and tables to answer questions, working out totals, differences and which value is larger or smaller. It is an important step because it links number skills to real situations, like temperatures, scores and amounts.
Practise Charts and Line Graphs
Have a guess, even if you're not sure. Get one wrong and we'll show you why, so every miss is a chance to learn.
Timed practice
The same practice, just with a gentle clock. Pick a length and see how many you can answer.
Each quiz shows a clear chart, table or graph and asks one question at a time. Where a picture helps, such as a line graph or a pictogram, it is drawn plainly so your child can focus on reading the values. Questions build in small steps, from finding a single value to comparing two or adding them together. If an answer is wrong, a gentle hint points to what to check, rather than just marking it incorrect.
BrightWren is free, with no account and no sign-up. It works on any phone, tablet or computer, so your child can practise at the kitchen table or on the way to school. Nothing is downloaded and there is nothing to pay.
