A brighter way to learn

Year 6

Place Value

In Year 6, children work with numbers up to ten million. They read and write them in figures and words, say what each digit is worth, and handle the awkward numbers with one or more zeros sitting in the middle.

Practise Place Value

Have a guess, even if you're not sure. Get one wrong and we'll show you why, so every miss is a chance to learn.

Timed practice

The same practice, just with a gentle clock. Pick a length and see how many you can answer.

This hub also covers comparing and ordering large numbers, rounding any number to whatever degree of accuracy a question asks for, working with negative numbers and counting back through zero, and seeing how each place-value column is ten times the one to its right.

Everything is free, with no account to set up, and a gentle hint appears whenever an answer needs a nudge. The questions are multiple choice with instant feedback, and they run in any web browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
